Blåvand day 2

The morning started with a drive into town with P's brother and sister in-law and their son, to watch the little 8 year old girl perform in her school play, not something we were expecting to do first thing after breakfast!

And before you knew it the room was filled with little people all here to see the Hans Cristian Andersen's play "Fyrtøjet" (the Tinder Box)...still means absolutely nothing to me!

the most stylish one is of course Marie-Louise (the girl with the hat) she even managed to outdo her Teacher in the fashion department

we discovered they do have child labour issues at the adjoining kindergarten,  but at least they make sure they adhere to the safety regulations

for enduring a children's event we were promised a traditional danish hotdog...this trailer looks authentic enough

oh yes its the real deal alright, even down to the scary Mary cooking the sausages

thats so much better, finally I got to have what I came here for....

A quick stop of at the house to pick up supplies and take a quick family photo with P's Mom her half brother and Sister in-law

of course no danish outing would be complete without a stop off at George Jensen
and no day is complete without a trip to the candy store...this one is for the real serious candy-holic...and "yes" Norrie this licorice is for you

an unexpected trip to visit a living legend in Denmark, where P's Dad helps out at New Years time...smoking fish man!
He smokes his own fish "old school" style..we need to find out more about his legendary technique and secrets to having the best smoked salmon!

the Smoking rooms...was it just me who was surprised that these were large enough to fit a human being inside-...
then the stories started....we were captivated and interested and worried about how much time he really has spent alone in those "chambers"!
the happy customer with a paper bag full of smoked fish goodness, we loved the plastic prawns hanging in the shop

I just LOVE the Danish summer.....

but finally the weather changed and we decided to take a walk on the beach where the old bunkers from World War II were transformed by an artist into horses.....as one does!
Pernille stubbornly announced she could climb them quite easily ...I just stood calmly by and waited for the event to unfold

As I thought, P didn't quite make it up the top with a stomach full of Hotdogs and candy, however still managed to put together a super pose for the camera

and what a lovely country it is when it's sunny!!

Denmark

The blog-mania has infected Abu Dhabi - Peter is the blogger technology mastermind - Gav makes sure no wrinkles or normal colored photos get posted !! Thanks for handing over your obsession to us!

We handed over the place to the boys before deparing to Denmark, its not the first time Sam has just up and left them when they have flown from the other side of the world to visit her

its not too shabby in the business lounge, I can feed my new addiction (blogging) in luxury surrounds!

I was in heaven, quiet, alone and tucked up with a blanket watching a movie until....

someone was bugging me from behind, I kept turning around to find out who was annoying me continually...

And the head turning continued through the flight answering such questions as "what are you watching?" "What did you eat?" "When are we there?"
I forgot to slip her a sleeping tablet so Sam managed to stay awake for the entire flight lucky for me....

Ariel shot of Frankfurt from Sam's camera after I threw her out of the plane

as if the long flight wasn't enough we then took the rent a car (not quite the Audi we had in mind) to spend another 3 hours together in a small enclosed space....

Bridge linking Sjælland and Fyn ..was supposed to be the longest in the world until the Japanese managed to design and build the longest ever in half the time the Danes spent just building ours
Hours of endless "Sound of Music" scenery

We were told the Hansel and Gretel palace that awaited us would have a marker so we could find it.....

Brother in law giving us the warm loving greeting we were waiting in anticipation for...at least he had some clothes on!!!

Little Danes are taught to be naked at an early age.......

Grand Mosque

Prayer time..do you think they will let us in like this?

Wife # 2 - I am only going to tell you once..

Praise the Lord they let me keep the boots

It's a lot more complicated than it looks...the local women make it look so sophisticated and easy

Standing on the worlds largest hand tufted carpet only an australian would have the sunglasses left on the head

A welcome break of air conditioning after a morning on a construction site in 45 degrees

New Pad in Abu Dhabi....

Thumbs up on the new pad, Chili and Noodle seem to be adjusting to the hardship of living by the sea!

Getting used to living in a glass bowl..hard to complain with that view !

Chili owning the place...new house same General

Those pasta making classes are paying off in the kitchen as well as on the hips

Off course we had to be different - even down to the doormat

Sam catching dinner ...unfortunately only barracudas this time

Loving the life by the ocean

Sam driving the boat to leave the fishing to the pro.. neighbor Chris
