Blåvand day 2

The morning started with a drive into town with P's brother and sister in-law and their son, to watch the little 8 year old girl perform in her school play, not something we were expecting to do first thing after breakfast!

And before you knew it the room was filled with little people all here to see the Hans Cristian Andersen's play "Fyrtøjet" (the Tinder Box)...still means absolutely nothing to me!

the most stylish one is of course Marie-Louise (the girl with the hat) she even managed to outdo her Teacher in the fashion department

we discovered they do have child labour issues at the adjoining kindergarten,  but at least they make sure they adhere to the safety regulations

for enduring a children's event we were promised a traditional danish hotdog...this trailer looks authentic enough

oh yes its the real deal alright, even down to the scary Mary cooking the sausages

thats so much better, finally I got to have what I came here for....

A quick stop of at the house to pick up supplies and take a quick family photo with P's Mom her half brother and Sister in-law

of course no danish outing would be complete without a stop off at George Jensen
and no day is complete without a trip to the candy store...this one is for the real serious candy-holic...and "yes" Norrie this licorice is for you

an unexpected trip to visit a living legend in Denmark, where P's Dad helps out at New Years time...smoking fish man!
He smokes his own fish "old school" style..we need to find out more about his legendary technique and secrets to having the best smoked salmon!

the Smoking rooms...was it just me who was surprised that these were large enough to fit a human being inside-...
then the stories started....we were captivated and interested and worried about how much time he really has spent alone in those "chambers"!
the happy customer with a paper bag full of smoked fish goodness, we loved the plastic prawns hanging in the shop

I just LOVE the Danish summer.....

but finally the weather changed and we decided to take a walk on the beach where the old bunkers from World War II were transformed by an artist into horses.....as one does!
Pernille stubbornly announced she could climb them quite easily ...I just stood calmly by and waited for the event to unfold

As I thought, P didn't quite make it up the top with a stomach full of Hotdogs and candy, however still managed to put together a super pose for the camera

and what a lovely country it is when it's sunny!!
